Counseling Services For Couples

Above all, love each other deeply. -- 1 Peter 4:8

My primary focus is helping couples reconnect by working through the struggles of relationships.

When most of us think about being part of a couple, we often think of the typical experience of when we first began a relationship with our spouse or significant other. The butterflies in your stomach, the anticipation of seeing them, the longing to hold their hand, or anxiously waiting for the phone to ring are part of what draw us closer. These feelings continue well into the planning of your wedding or first years together. However, as years pass, we are flooded with the stress of finances, jobs, buying a home, and having children and somehow those moments get lost in life. We begin to forget the butterflies and anticipation; the connection that once meant so much to us gets pushed aside and we begin to feel detached from each other. Take this opportunity to feel close and connected again – to experience the reattachment of your relationship.

Though I am now happily married, I have also experienced the pain of divorce. By walking through the issues that led to divorce with my own therapist, I was able to see that I am worthy of love, and that love and being attached to someone is a good thing we should all experience. It is, after all, what we were designed for in this life.

In addition to help restore marriages, I personally love helping couples get started on a strong foundation in their marriage through pre-marital counseling. We will complete around 6 – 8 sessions and use a mixture of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Prepare and Enrich. The Prepare and Enrich model utilizes an assessment that couples will complete separately between the 1st and 2nd sessions. At the end of our pre-marital counseling, couples will receive a certificate of completion.
