Above all, love each other deeply. First Peter 4, 8

My focus with couples is helping connect on a deeper level and to do it early on in the relationship so they have a stronger foundation. I want to work with couples newly married or perhaps just starting a family.

When most of us think about being part of a couple, we often think of the typical experience of when we first began a relationship with our spouse or significant other. The butterflies in your stomach, the anticipation of seeing them, the longing to hold their hand, or anxiously waiting for the phone to ring are part of what draw us closer. These feelings continue into the planning of your wedding or first years together. However, as years pass, we are flooded with the stress of finances, jobs, buying a home, and having children and somehow those moments get lost in life. Take this opportunity to start your marriage off right by learning how to avoid or even handle some of these stressors.

Though I am now happily married, I have also experienced the pain of divorce. By walking through the issues that led to divorce with my own therapist, I was able to see that I am worthy of love, and that love and being attached to someone is a good thing we should all experience. It is, after all, what we were designed for in this life.

I love helping couples get started on a strong foundation through pre-marital counseling. We will complete around 6 – 8 sessions and use a mixture of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Prepare and Enrich. The Prepare and Enrich model utilizes an assessment that couples will complete separately between the 1st and 2nd sessions. At the end of our pre-marital counseling, couples will receive a certificate of completion.
